My humble ivory collection needs TLC

Top left and right are Heljestrand MK 32. The one on the left has a chunk of ivory missing. The other one has a cracked blade.

Lower left corner is a Berg that looks like ivory, I'm not a 100 % sure.

Middle right is an MK 31 with rust; I removed some of it. I wonder if one of the MK 32 blades will fit in those scales.

Lower right is a no name blade with smaller scales in decent condition.

Is there hope for these razors?

The one with the cracked blade I would use shortened ivory scales from a broken set and make a nice shorty blade. The othe I would find another blade with the opposite side scale bad and make a good set from 2 bad. The bottom left blade looks like ivory in the pic.

Cracked ivory is remedied with using stylish liners.

Not sure how steady your hands are but with some repairs I've done I've glued the split together. Then on the insides I carved out a recess as if preparing an inlay. Into this I epoxied a very thin sliver ( one of ivory from a cracked scale and the other bone) into this recess. Then sand flush. It effectively bridges the gap reinforcing it. Care must be taken as most ivory is crazy thin as it is. But in this way the need for liners is eliminated and the scales appear as if stock. Cracked, but stock and stable. Haven't been too successful in getting the crack to disappear. It's always a dark line.

I do love the look of the liners, I have 2 Ivory W&B, one has a small crack near the pin the other is perfect. But this will take time learning to restore and unpin before I attempt to play with these. Hopefully one day haha

That is encouraging. I also have a puma that has a crack but I worry about it ruining my strop...and my face!

meh..nothing some krazy glue cant fix on both ends.......I would pm him and ask him what he thinks is best..or just shorten the blade like a Japanese razor..
