My Guess... 3017

This is what is left of my M&M Claddagh soap after 62 four pass face shaves and two pass head shaves.

Wow, you burned through a puck of PdP in 86 shaves? I'm currently 3017ing mine and have 57 shaves on it and it's about a 1/4" from the top of the jar. I've probably got about 200 shaves left on it at this rate!

I had similar thoughts and wondered if i should be loading even harder!

But...

Importantly, one needs to remember that prior to being a 3017'er, many soaps may have been used in a semi-regular rotation so not being started as new.

I finished off my Valobra a few days ago and had shave #2 with Tabac this morning. I'm not going to suffer through this soap. The slickness is off the charts and I enjoy the scent.

Good memories of rummaging through granny's purse I guess.

I expected for it to fall short in comparison to the Valobra but so far is holding it's own. We'll see if this is true over time.

If anyone is wondering Valobra's only shortcoming is in scent. Not only will I buy again but I've already made a small stockpile.

I have embraced load it like you hate it with all my soaps, I have a lot :eek2:

Yes, this was not a new soap, the embossed logo was gone, maybe 90%? I did a time lapse progression on this for fun, plus I was super into tracking progress back then.

Finished a Haslinger Schafmilch tallow puck, my last one... sob!

Started a Schapenmelk puck today. Early to say but this may be better than Haslinger. We'll see. Prelim thoughts are Schapenmelk whips up the lather easier and might offer just a little extra ooomph in slickness and thickness. I def like the scent over the Haslinger.

I'm looking forward to reading how this one goes for you. I'm a big fan of Haslinger Schafmilch and have several pucks of the tallow version tucked away. I was planning on 3017'ing one of those pucks during the coldest part of winter but when I saw CRSW had Schapenmelk in stock my curiosity got the best of me and I grabbed a puck. When I've finished my current 3017 effort Schapenmelk will get a turn. I havent tried any test lathers yet but it sure smells nice.

A&E is a softer soap and I only expect a couple months from it. Guessing I'll start Schapenmelk sometime in December.

Cheers!

Any puck that performs better that Haslinger must be good. Still loving every shave. Not much left. It looks like a two month puck for me.

Speaking of A&E....I need to sing its praises again. One of the finest soaps I've encountered. I have my eye on Asian Plum for next Spring.

First blizzard of the winter is bearing down on me. Ugh...way too soon. Schapenmelk shave soap is several weeks out but schapenmelk bath soap starts tomorrow. The scent is pleasant.

Well folks - My vintage tallow AoS Sandalwood puck has finally bit the dust. I shave pretty much just every other day and have had quite a bit of business travel this time around (which meant using my travel tube of shaving cream). This lead to this puck lasting almost a year (10/28/18 - 10/11/19) for 135 shaves.

Overall, this puck is darn near perfect. I wish the scent was stronger throughout the shave but that is purely just my preference. Otherwise, every other factor was perfect - cushion, slickness, post-shave feel, scent quality.

This is top-grade stuff.......unfortunately, the cost of NOS tallow on ebay is egregious......

Scent Quality: *****
Scent Strength: ****
Performance: *****
Usage: .70 grams per shave

I haven't determined what my next soap/cream will be yet. I am thinking about a Razorock tub as that goes relatively quick (for me) since I am leaning toward using MWF for the first time this winter.

I have switched to my L’Occitane Plisson synthetic for lathering Ogallala after using the Simpson Beaufort 4 for the first couple of weeks. The lather from the synth is far superior in terms of volume and cushion, though it still lags for slickness. I thoroughly enjoy the scent and the shave quality has gone up, so bully for me.

With so many soaps left, I’ve decided to tackle them by using the low caliber soaps first, loading them like I hate them and just getting them over with. That will leave me with a box of great shaves to take me into my twilight years with no drama.

Great work. Probably the hardest soap I’ve used so far. I like these time lapse progressions, I did one for my PdP as well I think.

You would think it would be difficult to get a usable lather from this much soap, but I had a great three pass shave again this morning with Haslinger Coconut. Glad I have two more pucks.

Ok, this time for real, Haslinger new formula sandalwood. I unwrapped this time and it’s in a recently vacated proraso tub which is a pretty good fit for this little puck.

This will be my first try with the reformulated Haslinger and I’m hoping it will deliver the goods.

I guess I should be thankful that I previously went bezerk and grabbed three of each of the old Haslinger when I read about it about a zillion posts ago so I have no desire to immediately grab the new formulation. Sadly with 50+ unopened soaps in my backlog it might be awhile before I get to them. Someone should edit some of the early posts and add a warning thant when you are trying to zoom through 1000 pages or so of this thread the soaps don't just go poof in a matter of 15-30 minutes and you don't really need to buy every single one that folks seem to like. If you do you might end up like me with decades of soap to work through. I shouldn't complain as I am pretty sure every soap in my backlog will provide awesome shave. Maybe in 2040 or so I might be ready to try to new formulation of Haslinger.

Proraso green, Valobra menthol, Williams ice blue and Valobra unscented were all sampled for about a week each since August. Have settled on the unscented Valobra. Less than half the tub is left, so should be done in about a month. Whatever this soap lacks in scent, the performance is just amazing. Makes me sad I have 20 odd sticks of Palmolive and a kilo of Cella to burn through.

I took inventory of the soaps in my den and started the 3017 process the other day. Here's what I've got to start:
