What's new

My Guess... 3017

75 shaves today on Ach Brito Mogno. Yesterday I used a grater to put in my Fine larher bowl. Hopefully I'm over the halfway mark with this soap. It's great stuff, but I'm at the "I'm bored and want to move on to another soap" stage.
Ah, the conflicting desires of the 3017 way: We want to enjoy a great lather, but at the same time we want to finish it off and move on to the next one.

I finished this one earlier today.
Haven't decided yet what's next.

Progress so far...

First kill this year (not counting one aftershave)

Wickham 1912 Club Cola is just great. Once I dialed it in I had close and comfortable shaves every time I was using it. It's really easy to lather, but it's worth to add water slowly. It doesn't require a lot of water to produce slick, creamy, protective lather. Overall, great soap that gave me many fantastic shaves.
I will not buy another tub, but only because I have too many soaps already and I pressed stop button last year on any shave related purchase 😁 Maybe some of you are familiar with this problem.
Anyway, one soap down, another 100 to go 🙂

Next is LEA Classic cream (about 70% full). It's getting warmer, so it is the perfect time to start with it. It's metholated and it's a true bliss in the summer, but I don't like using it in the winter.

I killed off a puck of eShave Mandarin today after 222 shaves. There were actually 7 grams of soap bits left, but they have gotten so small that it is too much work to try to build a decent lather from them. Off they go into the "Mutt Soap" tub to join the remnants of many another puck.

I got many a fine shave from this soap. Too bad it's no longer available.

After a few days with the Mutt Soap helping the eShave remnants get acquainted with their new surroundings, I'll be picking something from the stash that I have a chance of finishing off a little faster!

Finished another puck of Edwin Jagger Sandalwood, after 38 excellent shaves. It surprised me for such a small puck.
This was a contest between two sandalwood soaps, Proraso red (croap) and Edwin Jagger Sandalwood (hard soap). EJ won hands down. As a matter of fact, I stopped using Proraso when it was almost finished since I couldn't accept its mediocre performance. Compared to EJ.

I could say that I also finished a tub of Proraso red. I stopped using it after 42 shaves, some were great shaves but mostly mediocre.

@brucered, you are the first Canadian to declare a finished product since we hit post#25,000 in this glorious thread of soap death'n'destruction and lathericious joy! I shall be in touch, my friend!

Wow! I am truly pleased and impressed by the generosity of the fellow members. Prisoner #7 reports here, restrain would disqualify me as recipient of anything shaving related. Even my wife shakes her head in disapproval "no, you are not getting any more soap". I would be happy to pass this on to the next contestant, whole heartedly.
Thank you all!

I am seeing signs of breaking through a puck of Cade which I have used every day since 1/11/23, except for several days in Porto. The center hole is guaranteed this week, leaving another 3-4 weeks of very good Cade (tallow) shaves.
Tallow in Cade??? The Cade website lists the following ingredients:

HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL - COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) OIL - PALMITIC ACID - STEARIC ACID - SODIUM HYDROXIDE - AQUA/WATER - BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER - PARFUM/FRAGRANCE - SODIUM METHYL COCOYL TAURATE - JUNIPERUS OXYCEDRUS WOOD OIL - SODIUM CHLORIDE - CITRIC ACID - TETRASODIUM GLUTAMATE DIACETATE - SODIUM SULFATE - ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE – LINALOOL.

Started a tallow Tabac puck today. I expect to get a year out of it, based on my shave schedule.

I have never actually used it in all these years on B&B. I bought a puck years ago, probably 2015 or earlier, smelled it, dismissed it, and never tried it again. I have used IM many times, so know the soap base is good.

Posting weights for reference.

Empty jar: 282g
Soap puck: 125g (125.8g actual)

2 months usage, like 20 shaves or so (I shave every other day, give or take).

I'm down about 10g. It may be more as the puck was freshly used and rinsed.

A long way to go, but I'm not complaining. Amazing lathers and I actually enjoy the scent.

10/10 so far.

3.5 months into my tin of SV and making progress. I’ve been using a small synthetic brush that is too dense with the knot set too deep, so I’ve overloaded the last couple of days. In any case, I continue to be blown away by how protective this soap is. I have to be really careless or aggressive to get a weeper, let alone a nick. I don’t think I’ve used a soap as effective as SV is.

I combined the remainder of my Stirling Executive Man and Canada Shave Soap! Hopefully this combination works well. I’ll find out soon! It is my plan to use this as my primary soap until it is finished! May have a couple of days where I use something else just for some variety, but this will get the lion’s share till it’s gone! Empty tub weighs 20g so I’ve got 47g combined left to go!

Finally finished something! Only shaved like 2-3 times a week at most since then. No idea what the tots number of shaves was. Had to deviate and use foamy for quick shower shaves before work a lot since the end of January, but I finally got something finished! Great shaves all the way to the end!

Have a great day y’all! 😃🤙

After almost 3 month's worth of daily use, my TFS Rasozero Barbacco is now finished. Even with a thin a weak lather from the last dregs of the soap, the shave itself was pretty good. Up next, is the punch-in-the-face mint blast from my TFS Rasozero Spiffero.
