My grandfather's razors. Just arrived in the mail

My grandfather died several years back, and it was long before I needed to shave...

After talking to my uncle, turns out he used both straight razors, and double edge.

Here are a few my uncle mailed me:

A Gillette adjustable, and two Shicks. All with cases. I'm on cloud 9 :)

I wouldn't sell them for anything. I have nothing from him. I'm just very happy I can pass them down years from now.

I also have my grandfather's slim, which I dug up after he died. It was part of the reason I switched to DE shaving. Oddly enough, I don't have as much of a problem resisting razor acquisition like other people do:thumbup1:

My prized posession is an old Ever Ready brush from my father. I treasure the memories. Never sell those razors, and always remember your grandfather. Shave with them and imagine what it was like for him back in the day. It's a connection to your family that far outweighs any monetary value.

Congrats!

My grandfather died in 1960 and I have his Gillette DE. It still had the blade in it from his last shave.

Nice to have things like this.

So, I didn't need to shave today. Light stubble as I used my straight yesterday morning (only wtg and xtg shave).

But!!! I couldn't help myself. I used a medicore soap I bought from a mall while traveling, and I threw the packaging out; and finished almost exactly the same way I remember when he'd finish his shave. Pour old spice into his palms, and slap his face haha!

I enjoyed the hell out of this shave, I'm going to smile like crazy every time- no knicks either haha!!!!

And, best of all, there was a blade left in the slim- may very well be the last shave he ever had was with that blade... I'm going to keep it in the case for as long as I'll be breathing.

That's cool. Glad they were still in the family and made their way to you.
