What's new

My Futur as finaly arrived!

I started shaving whit a DE 3 months ago, and the first razor i baught was a Merkur 1904, at that time i had no idea about DE razor, i baught this one cus it was the cheaper in the Merkur razors.Recently i found that this razor was not as good as i taught on my heavy beard, the razor is too light and in fact i need to put a little pressure while shaving because it wont win on my beard. So last week i went on the WCS site and i baught a Futur, i think it would suit my type of beard way more than the 1904,,and i placed in the order a pack of Feather blades that i hope will give me a closer shave whitout having to multi-pass. And today i just had my order by mail,,the razor looks very fine(i took the polish finish)and is way more heavy than the 1904. So tomorow would be my first Futur/Feather shave, i can't wait to:shaving:

Futur + Feather = awesome.
Edit/ you will still need multiple passes. Trying to do more per pass sounds like not a good idea since it might involve using pressure (don't do it!). Anyway, enjoy!

Funny coincidence - I just took my Futur down to the post office and sent it off to a lucky ebay winner. The truth is I never learned to love it. For one thing, it's too heavy. It's all very well to say that it allows gravity to do all the work, but some passes require shaving UPWARDS for heavens sake. All the proprioception is wrong in that case. You get the impression that you aren't shaving with the razor - it's shaving with you! I won't even mention the cretinous blade changing system, but I do have to point out one thing: this razor is just plain ugly. Butt-ugly, in fact, with its giant bloated head and fat Teutonic arse. Made my other razors - even the Merkurs - look bad. So off it went into the ebay mist. I hope it finds a good home.

Tell us about your shave! I'm a Futur user and I love it. Yes, the blade change mechanism and adjustment dial are flaws, but I think it looks great, love the heft of the thing, and have enjoyed every shave I've made with it.

All this is true about Futur ... and yet, I wouldn't want my shave den to ever be without one.

Actually yesterday was my first shave whit the Futur, and i pretty much enjoyed it. Of course i need to adjust myself since my first DE was a 1904. The Futur/Feather combo is really great by the way ,,those blades gave me the closest shave i had yet,,but they are kinda rough on my neck(which is prone to ingrown hair and nicks). But i think ill stick to that combo, what i like about the Futur is the adjustment so i go lower on sensitive spot and i crank it up on heavy beard spots. I will keep my 1904 but i doubt i would use it a lot now.
