My flea market find, help please

I found this Sunday at a flea market. Paid $10 bucks for it. I went with the intention of finding a shaving mug so I was happy to find this amongst the plates and dishes on some old ladies table.

At first I thought it was a Col. Ichabod Conk product but after looking online it doesnt seem to be. I honestly have no idea what I have here. Any help and information that you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated. I am an avid antiquer and it does appear to be "old" but I dont know. It has a few minor glaze bubbles and hairline cracks in the glaze (from age?). Let me know what you guys think.

I think it was designed to keep a large moustache out of the drink, not originally intended for shaving purposes.

It appears to be exactly that. Thanks! Anyone have any idea whos picture that is? Since it is a moustache mug I apologize for the off topic thread.

BigL, thanks for that info. I have seen these mugs on occasion and I too thought that they were a weird shaving mug, perhaps a way to trim the moustache. Now I too know the truth.

I thought this ledge was to rest a safety razor or straight against plus a shaving brush. I have my brush and straight sitting in it now and they fit perfectly haha.

Hey, if it works, go with it. I've never understood the point of moustache mugs. A wet moustache is the hallmark of a successful evening, and should be worn with pride.

The portrait looks a bit more military. my guess would be some old civil war hero running for public office.

I've considered growing that Bill the Butcher style handlebar mustache. However at the rate my facial hair grows I think it'd take years.

Nice looking mug, great to use it to now get rid of unwanted hair rather than keeping wanted hair dry.
