My First Whiff of...... Ivory Club Por Homme

Sorry guys, I couldn't resist!!

Just read thru the recent O/S threads and I'll never be able to think of the Family Dollar--Ivy Club--Vi-Jon O/S knock off the same way ever again!!! This title is elegant, classy and should be every B&B'ers answer to "You smell really nice--what are you wearing?"....I can't wait till my girlfriend hits me with that question....heh heh

Thanks mretzloff for inspiring us to be bold with our $1.60 aftershave!!!!

So there's an Old Spice knockoff called Ivory Club? Heh, that name is priceless!

It is but it isn't.

This is the Ivy Club Family Dollar knockoff. Due to a slightly mis-remembered name, it became Ivory Club. After that, the mistake was embraced, and a "por Homme" was added. That way, if someone asks what the scent is, the much more impressive-sounding "Ivory Club por Homme" is given, rather than the less-dignified "Generic Old Spice I got for a buck sixty."

That is outstanding! :thumbup::a14::a14:

The whole effort is deserving of a round of applause! Now I'm going to have to ease over to the Family Buck to get some Ivory Club, and wait for the following scenario to present itself:

Observer: "What an amazing scent you are wearing today, what's it called?"

Me: "Why, thank you for noticing. The fragrance is called 'Ivory Club por homme' and I was able procure it from a local boutique, 'Dollar de famille,' you may have heard of it, at a wonderful discounted rate."

In the interests of further ridiculousness and knowing full well how to beat a dead horse, may I propose a slight modification?

To add to the mystique, how about "Club d'Ivoire pour Hommes"? (Pronounced "Cloob Deevwahr poor ohmm") Pretty classy for a buck and a half, no?

It's catchy.

BTW- John, you have your "accept incoming private messages" turned off.

I checked, and there aren't any Family Dollar stores withing 120 miles of me. Anyone want to send me a bottle? That way when someone asks where to obtain the Club d'Ivoire, I can say "Sorry, I have it specially imported."

Have you got a CVS or Rite Aid? They sell the same stuff, it just costs more than it does at Family Dollar or the Dollar Tree. Check the chain Grocery stores too. Pretty much all store brand Old Spice in that buoy-shaped bottle is the (ahem) Ivory Club.

I'll check out the CVS near me. Thanks for the suggestion. It never would have occurred to me to buy the store brand AS before reading this thread.

Yeah, it actually costs more to put it in the mail than it does to buy the actual product at Family Dollar.

Yep, me too. I'm the kinda guy that usually never buys the store brands of toiletries. I figure I'll pay a little extra and get the real thing. Fake Old Spice is really the last thing I want to buy.

When I first found B&B I read the threads regarding how O/S had been reforumlated, new plastic bottles. etc. Soon after I read Clubman Rob's review on Family Dollar Old Spice (Ivory Club Por Homme) and bought a bottle.I have gotten more enjoyment out of that $1.60 bottle than any shaving item I have purchased since then.

It's a super value--one where you get great quality and good value..Kinda like America used to be...

I just picked some up today, and wow! It's fantastic.
I really love the scent.
I'm planning on a Tabac and Ivory Club shave experience tomorrow..and I'm pumped.

Well, I finally broke down and went to the Family Dollar store near me and bought a bottle.

Wow. :w00t: And I'm one of the guys who thinks P&G's OS is okay (in the glass bottle, though). One whiff and I remembered what OS smelled like when I was a kid.

FWIW, I think it smells a lot like the glass bottle P&G OS cologne.

Ivory Club Por Homme - just kind of rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? (but shouldn't it be "pour homme?")
