My First Pair of Allen Edmonds

I have been looking for a 6" boot lately, and have been considering buying a pair of redwing iron rangers. Today I swung by my local Allen Edmonds outlet and tryed on a few pairs of boots. After some debate, I decided on these. Unfortunately the size that I needed wasn't in stock, so they have to be drop shipped to my house, no biggie though, I can wait. So they go to ring me up, and what do the boots ring up at? a total including tax of.......$108.49!!! less than half the price of the redwings. I cant wait to get them in.

Those seem really good. A lot go with the Dalton AE boots but I don't see their purpose as aren't you supposed to avoid wearing those kind of leather shoes in the wet weather? Plus, the leather sole makes them dangerous...

I can respect some of the points you raise, and I would suggest it is all about your application. Would I wear Daltons in the field pheasant hunting or to shingle my roof? Nope. Would I attempt to wear my field boots with a shirt and tie or suit for work or for a nice night out to dinner? Nope. The comfort of a leather soled shoe (which can be readily recrafted to new condition when needed) for 90% of my uses is a superiorly comfortable option. I think it all depends on how you will wear them and whether you are seeking a one-size-fits-all situations solution.

...And... the really cool part is there are some really awesome choices from Allen Edmonds, Red Wing, etc!

Thanks for sharing your opinion because the fact is I actually want to get the Daltons despite the two cons I saw of them. They look awesome and I will eventually add them to my rotation in the next year or so.

Two thoughts: 1) I am really happy with my Daltons - great with suit/slacks as well as wool cargos or jeans. Super comfy. Might be worth calling to the AE seconds store in Port Washington, WI when you are ready - this wold be an inexpensive way into a pair. FWIW
2) I really want to get the Red Wing Iron Rangers, I just need to wear out a pair of Filson's first...so, it could be a while! Shucks! Maybe I will justify them for motorcycle cycle boot replacements some day soon. That reason ought a work!

I have been wearing their shoes for over 30 years now, and now have gotten to the place in life where I like the low cut boots. Last week I ordered a pair of Daltons and one in the Fifth Street model. My foot is long and narrow, wearing a size 12 in A or B width, Allen Edmonds is one of the few manufactuers who make narrow sizes.

Fortunately they had a good on line sale going on last week.

Glad to hear. They are definitely comfortable. I assume that with the natural leathers you will see color variation. Just be happy that both of your shoes are the same shade!
Mine came in today, and they look much darker than yours, I'll post a photo later tonight. They are super comfortable though.

Here they are tonight with jeans and a polo

Those are awesome. I also figured out the color difference. Mine are natural bison leather and yours are brown bison leather. It doesn't look like the Yuma boots can be ordered in natural.

Nice Yumas! I bought Yumas for two of my sons for Christmas this year. They are really nice boots! I currently have 4 pairs of AE shoes and 1 Pair of AE boots. I love them. I take a size 15 so generally pickings are slim but the AE sell almost all of their styles in 15 and a lot in 16.
