What's new

My first JasEtea order arrived today:)

I am very new to the world of loose leaf teas but so far Oolong is my favorite. so i placed a small order from JasEtea last week for a few different samples. I picked up 3 different Oolongs a Green and a ripe Puerh to try.

2008 Phoenix Dan Cong
2009 Imperial Anxi Mao Xie
2009 Rou Gui (Cinnamon) Wuyi Rock
"Snow Dragon" Supreme Yunnan Pure Bud Green Tea
2008 Menghai V93 ripe Puerh

I look forward to trying these wonderful new teas. JasEtea was a pleasure to do business with they were very nice and helpfull, prompt shipping and good prices:thumbup:Thanks!

Those were some of the Oolongs that Netsurfr recommended. Im drinking the Imperial Anxi Mao Xie right now and its wonderful. Ive only had the darker Wuyi type Oolongs before today so this is my first floral. I just realized that I forgot to order a sample of the "Big Red Robe" that ive heard so much about, O well always next time:) I really like how I got a hand written note in my order thanking me for the business, you dont see things like that very often these days.

Yeah, Steve's place is the greatest. :thumbup1:

I do have to say, though, that placing an order from Jas-e without buying a sheng is a sin.

I tried the Menghai v93 today and I wasnt all that impressed it wasnt really my cup of tea:) Maybe ill like raw Puerh, ill have to order some next time. But right now Oolong is by far my favorite type of tea. So far Ive tried 4 different Chinese Oolongs, Rishi Organic Wuyi, 2008 Phoenix Dan Cong, 2009 Imperial Anxi Mao Xie, and 2009 Rou Gui and i really enjoyed each one. I cant wait to try some of the Taiwan Oolongs! Any recommendations on where to buy Oolongs from Taiwan, JasEtea seems to only have Chinese Teas.

1. Its their website, so there are a lot of fans on the DB.
2. Their tea is a good step up from dust in a bag, and a reasonable introduction to loose leaf tea.
3. Its their website. :wink2:

Does jing carry taiwan oolongs sometimes? I only saw Chinese oolongs.

I must be a product of the '80s, cause any company with a McGyver at the healm is okay in my book. Oh what a wondrous mullet!
T-f-T has lots of online love. Don't take my word for it. Their Shan Lin Xi and Da Yu Ling are great. Agreed that the commercial stuff is just okay, but I feel the same about Shiuwen's commercial grade stuff too. None of it bad by a long, damn sight! :thumbup1:

Anyone ever try J-Tea ?

I'm going to advise against Tea from Taiwan. I ordered a boatload of samples from them and was pretty unimpressed. Floating Leaves, however, puts the lotion in the basket. You should try jingteashop.com as well.

PUT THE F*KING LOTION IN THE BASKET!

I'll give you the same advice that was given to me. Take the wrapper off and let it set at least 24 hours. Then give it a try. I didn't like it at first either; however, after letting it set out 24+ hours w/o the wrapper, and only using a little bit of leaves and short steep time (10 sec) I think it is much better.

And agreed, you need to make sure you toss the big red robe on the next order. I'm getting ready to have a cup now!

I let the Menghai v93 sit out without the wrapper for a few days and it did improve a bit but its still not really something I could see my self drinking on a regular basis. I really love Oolong though:) Ive finished most of the samples I got from JasEtea and I will definitely be placing some more Tea orders in the next week or so. I will be ordering more of the Rou Gui and Anxi Mao Xie I really enjooyed them and ill probably try a few new ones, definitely some of the Big Red Robe, Tie Guan Yin and some raw Puerh samples. I really which they carried some Taiwan Oolongs, I guess Ill have to order those from another seller.

I think, at least to me, teas can be like alcohol. Oolongs are similar to a hard cider, black tea is like a great local brew, ripe pu'er is like a good cheap whiskey, young raw pu'er is like a good ipa, and good aged pu'er can be like a finely aged wine or a nice old scotch.

Nice analogy. :thumbup1:
