My First Italian Barbershop Visit/Shave

First off, I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but if it's not I'm sure the mods will help me out. Secondly, while I was in Toronto for a vacation this past week I had the pleasure of walking by an old school Italian barber shop. As I peered in I saw three white haired italian barbers masterfully chopping hair and wielding straight razors, at which point I knew I would have to return the following day for a cut and shave. The interior was gorgeous, and felt like it was from the '40's, and had a beautiful old school almost Proraso smell to it. The gentleman barber I had then proceeded to give me by far the best haircut I've ever received, all while asking me only two questions(as opposed to the usual five from a hairdresser, with mediocre results). Even SWMBO, who I think was slightly disturbed by my enthusiasm for such an old place was genuinely impressed with the cut I received. He then moved on to the straight razor shave, which was absolutely phenomenal, and pretty much convinced me that one day I'll be owning a straight as well as my trusty DE :thumbup1: If anyone's ever in Toronto, I highly recommend Gus the Other Barber(I promise I'm not affiliated with them lol). Does anyone else have any great barber stories?

Great to hear that you had a good experience. What did he lather you up with for the shave? Did he use an aftershave balm or splash as well?

What was the charge for the shave? The only one I've ever had was decades ago in my dad's barber shop (yes, he was an Italian barber). It was very, very nice.
