My First Fountain!

Woohoo! Finally came in the mail today I won't lie…I had to search youtube for "filling a fountain pen", but I got the job done with minimal mess! I LOVE this thing! If I never used another fountain pen, I'm sure I could use this one for a very long time with tons of satisfaction! I will buy a Lamy, or other mid-level FP once I free up some monies, but this one is great! I can really tell the difference between using this pen and using a crappy BIC pen. It really makes writing each word and letter more enjoyable. I love to write letters to my folks back home, so now they are going to get a LOT more! I am a little weary of keeping it on me while in uniform, so I will probably leave it on my desk at work and use it to sign the 20+ receipts I have to sign every day. I hope I make some people jealous!

You are more than welcome, AirForceMX. Just remember that this is a very inexpensive ("cheap" sounds too derogatory) FP. There's basically nowhere to go but up from here. Lamy's are nice, but the triangle grip section was not for me. Kaweco's are very affordable; I use the tiny Sport as my daily writer. Whatever you do, don't talk to James

Air force... that pens piston would lock on me when twisting the piston all the way back if it does it to you just tap the piston knob lightly on a hard surface and it should free thr knob to twist again

He sent one blue and one black ink. I used the blue ink...I can't remember what the name of it was. I really like it! It dries fairly dark, but still nice and blue. Thanks a lot guys. I'm totally HOOKED!

Both. They sell the converter separately though. Cartridges are limited in colors. You would use the converter to fill with your own ink, so basically any ink that interests you.

to that I would add that cartridges are ridiculously expensive per unit of measure compared to bottled ink.

My first cartridge ran out today. Had my pen since April 5. Ten days, normal writing I'd say because I haven't used it for everything, plus I have another one that I've been using. Glad I ordered some ink. It should be here tomorrow, which just happens to be my birthday! Happy Birthday to me!

I've always used the converter since I like using bottled inks and carts get expensive. I do carry the carts that came with my safari in my bag just in case the converter goes dry on me, but I have other pens to use if that happens.
