My first experience with Derby blade

Tonight I shaved with Derby blade (razor: Merkur 23c).
Not very bad, but it is inferior to Astra SP evidently.
I mean inferiority in both smoothness and sharpness.
Especially in smoothness, Derby is far behind Astra.
For me, Derby is a two-shave blade.
Moreover, Derby causes more irritation even after first shave.

I just received 200 more Derby blades. They work fine for me...EJ89 / Tech / Merkur Slant. Glad to hear Astra works for you.

I've used a derby but never liked it after the first couple of shaves. I switched over to Shark, then Personna lab blues, before landing on my favorite the feather blade.

I had a second excellent shave today with a Derby blade in a Gillette Slim set @ 5.

Nick and irritation free.

Much more comfortable than with a Feather, and just as close.

I'm looking forward to comparing with a Gillette Silver Blue, and Personna Lab in the near future.

However, at this point, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase more Derby blades.

From what's written here about Derby, it's a 50/50 blade....some love them, some loathe them...me, never again.

But for every blade lover, you find a blade hater. YMMV, in short.
