What's new

My first customish GD

It's not very fancy, just wanted to have long slim lines on this one. The scales are from Larry, I'm just not ready to tackle making my own scales yet. Larry was nice enough to pre-drill the holes for me, (pinning was hard enough)

Nice polishing! It looks nothing like what came out of Ning Bo, China!

That looks great!

I'm waiting for my own Gold Dollar which I bought on ebay for £3.49 ($5.59) delivered. If and when it comes, I will confine my blade modifications to grinding away the heal problem and honing it up. I could do scales I think - well I know I can, but I don't have a dremel just now to make big alterations to the shape of the blade. You've really sorted out that heel, haven't you? It looks elegant and stylish now, rather than clumpy and crude like it was when you got it. Well done. How does that heel work when you are shaving? I wonder if you might have a point there that could nick you. A close up picture would show that better maybe.

Looks Japanese folder style to me, because of the shorter blade and longer tang. very nice work!

Tony, you can sort aaggressive/dangerous heels and toes by blunting the first couple of mills on a glass. I do that now with mine, took me a few cuts to realise that it isn't wimpish though, wish I'd have done it sooner.

Great tip! Thanks. I'll remember that.

I can't quite see the heel on this beauty in the pictures, but the style looks very nice. It may be that the heel is as tame as can be - I just wondered, because it looks to come to a bit of a point. As a beginner in this game, I need all the tips I can get, so consider that one 'filed' for future reference.
