So I've been at this every day for about two months now. In general, I'm not a patient person, but I really seem to enjoy DE shaving, so I've tolerated the days of 9 O'clock shadow, crazy irritation, trying and buying all sorts of blade/razor/product combinations to make a good experience. I'm happy to report that this morning, I got my first ever DFS without my face feeling like it's on fire!
I've said before on this forum that my beard is dense and tough. I've given up hope of ever getting a BBS shave without a carbide-coated angle grinder. I've gotten DFS before, but it's always been with a great deal of pain and irritation throughout the rest of the day. I was beginning to think that I would just have to tolerate that in order to have a decent shave.
But this morning... Three passes with my new (to me) Fatboy set at 7-8-9 (WTG-XTG-ATG) followed by a nearly painless and completely bloodless ATG pass with my Mühle R41 (all using the same Feather blade) produced a shave unlike any I've had yet. Although I still feel stubble when I rub ATG, when rubbed WTG or XTG, my face feels like a baby's butt. And as I sit here, I keep touching my face, because I feel like I forgot to shave this morning. No red bumps, no itching, no screaming pain.
I have arrived at shaving nirvana, and this seems like the only place in the world where I can announce that proudly. Had to tell someone!
