What's new

My first attempt at putting a new knot in a brush.

I bought this old brush because I have a warped sense of humor. I knew right off the bat it'd need a new knot, so I ordered a 20mm Best Badger from TGN.

Thanks everyone.
I was concerned because I didn't have "marine-grade" epoxy & I didn't know how much to use.. I ended up using Gorilla Glue epoxy. I like Gorilla Glue products...always had good luck with them.

That handle shape looks great:thumbup:

I don't feel like the glue/epoxy used is critical. Worst case scenario the knot falls out at some stage in which case you simply glue it back in. If anything, using a less "secure" product will just help the next time the brush needs to be reknotted.

yes, they'll smell 'au naturale' for a while. i always lather mine up in something strong and leave it for a few hours. hey if it stinks you know it came off a real badger right? ha.

ps. oh and nice restore! i've never seen a handle quite like that one!

Whipped Dog provides a small packet of Oxy Clean with their knots, which works quite well. You just soak for 3-4 minutes at a time, 3-4 times, rinsing between soaks. Not sure of the mixture ratio with water. I think it was a teaspoon of Oxy Clean to a cup of water.
