My first ABC with a surprise

Finally decided to go after a ABC on ebay (thanks Brian and Len!) and picked up this guy (sans blade holder):

Two part numbers! Krumholz mentions that the rework parts were scarce. I imagine around here that isn't necessarily so.

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing that the quality control had to do with the threads.

Nice find, Jim. That same exact combo of case and razor was my first ABC set. The razors shave excellently. I've used my Empire for the past two days and have had great shaves. Enjoy it!

Very nice set. The L repair number is fairly common with ABC razors but not so with other Old Types. My collection has over 40 Old Type razors but the only two with L numbers are ABC made. That is 2 of 13.

Enjoy your new set. It is both a beauty to behold and a beauty to shave with.

I have two "L" ABCs - one is an Empire, the other a Floral, both silver. Too small a sample to generalize from.... I was thinking that only the fancy-shmancy ones had QC issues. Guess not.
