My Face Hates Me Right Now

I just had the worst shave of my life. My face and neck felt so burnt that I had to completely stop shaving. I'm still a newbie with the DE but I've noticed my technique getting better and better and this shave was worse than my first one. I was using a Personna red for the first time and I just kept thinking "Man, this thing sure is brutal." Well come to find out my EJ DE89L 3 piece was not tightened all the way and the blade was almost sitting flat in there with no angle so it was just dragging along my face. I will never make that mistake again! Thank goodness for Proraso pre/post. The "cooling" effect has definitely taken away a lot of the burn. I'm almost embarrassed to go into work tomorrow because half of my neck has really long stubble all over it and I don't want to shave again and end up really really red.

It will get better. Great choice on the razor!

My first couple shaves with a DE were terrible, but improved quickly with experience.

I love Personna Reds. It must have been the lose razor. Just get in the habit of always checking the tightness of your razor, be obsessive...like a baseball player continually tightening his batting glove.

Gosh that stinks. I think most of us have had a really bad shave or done something really dumb, so don't feel bad. Maybe you can shave just your neck a bit WTG before you go into work. Fortunately, these days it seems most people are oblivious to anything going beyond the end of their own noses, so maybe most people won't even notice.

Hope your face and neck feel better soon.

Someone else posted about the same experience here a while ago. That would certainly affect the angle of the blade to one's disadvantage :a30:

Lesson learned and you know with certainty that mistake won't happen again. When I first started out and I had a bad shave like yours I'd feel as though I "wasted a perfectly good shave" just remember you got plenty more ahead of you. Best rule of thumb for any nub, respect the razor and do not apply pressure

Man sorry that happened to you. You'll get a better shave next time. I had an unpleasant shave yesterday. It happens to all of us at one time or another.

Similar thing happened when I was ahving with a TTO SS and the doors of the razor started to open a bit. I only realised at the end of the blood-filled shave. Hopefully you will be back on track for the next shave!

BTW Witch Hazel will help thing heal nicely, it was my saviour for the first few months.

P-Reds are the standard by which I measure other blades, and is my first and only 100-count purchase. That said, get rid of the one that butchered your face. Because it was loose in the razor, it is probably mangled as well.
