What's new

my ebay deal!! (but what is it?)

I can't believe none of you guys bid on this. Granted the picture in the listing didn't look that great but I was buying it for more of a user grade anyway. Well I got it today and it was absolutely filthy but some boiling water and Flitz with elbow grease got it polished up to where it really looks like new. Everything works great and every number and dot is perfectly black with no flaking or fading. My only question though is what is it? I'm pretty sure it's a Slim adjustable but I want to make sure. Also I checked the date code and it's a 3rd quarter 1966. Oh yeah the best part.......I won the auction for $7.00!!

P.S. Sorry for the glare in the picture but the darn thing is just too shiny!

You're gonna like that slim. And if you don't, I'll buy it from you at a nice profit.
You can lube the mechanism with mineral oil. That's what I use on mine and it makes a huge difference on these old ones.
I lube my TTOs from the top and from the bottom, and where the TTO knob and handle meet. You could just submerge it in mineral oil and let it sit for an hour, then stand it up to drain out the excess, and clean the oil off the exterior.
Shark and Derby blades are sweet in these slims. Now you need a '69 super adjustable (black handle). Mine's a fantastic shaver.

Nice score! $7 is a steal in today's market.

To get rid of the glare, turn off the flash and put the razor in a well lit area. Then use the macro button (usually the tulip icon) which allows you to get very close to the subject.

A fine razor at a fine price. The Slim is one of my go to razors. Throw a blade in and take it for a test shave. Let us know how it works for you.

Hey, Ramblin..

Great job on the Slim! ..just curious, why the heck are there so many Yellow Jackets on this board? Do you guys have a wet shaving club over there now or something?

Ha! Nah I think it's just that most of us have just discovered shaving because we don't begin to get facial hair until we're in our 30s due to lack of sun from sitting inside our parent's basements and the computer screen glare off of our pocket protectors!

Thanks for all the comments guys. It's amazing how good it felt to add my "new" Slim to my collection. I swear when I closed the door I could hear my 67 black handle SS and my 65 Tech start chatting the Slim up about where she had been and who she had shaved! Ok serious question, what setting should I begin with?

I too have both a black handled SS and a Slim, and to approximate the shave of the SS I use either a setting of 3 (for WTG and XTG passes) or 2 (ATG pass). Remember to loosen the knob before you try to adjust, or you risk injuring your Slim. Enjoy!!:001_smile
