In an earlier thread I mentioned my ebay experience. My $6.50 (plus shipping) razor arrived today. As it turns out, it is a 1954 (Z2) Gillette SS Flair tip. There is a little bit of rust/discoloration where the blade goes.

Actually, most of it came clean with dishsoap and a brush. In fact, the case came out practically brand new. I'm getting Scrubbing Bubbles tomorrow.
I also (finally) received my sample order from The Shave Den. It included:
27 sample blades (3 of 9 different types)
a sample of Tabac shave cream
a sample of TSD after shave milk (house scent)
Now I can start comparing.
