What's new

My duh moment

So I have a habit of spinning my pen on my desk while I am on the phone. Well guess what, that is a bad idea with a FP. after a 45 minute phone call today I uncapped my pen and there was ink all over the place.

Like I said. My duh moment.

I learned to not fidgit with a fountain oen or spin one in my fingers. Or unknowing unscrewing the blind cap and working a piston filler...

I have sharpies for that.:)

Sounds familiar.

I gave a fountain pen to another social studies teacher. She had seen mine and asked how to get one. I had an Esterbrook I wasn't using and let her have it.

One of her students "borrowed it". Of course none of the kids knew anything about it. That afternoon I saw a kid with blue hands. When he "took it apart and played with the funny end thing" it "exploded".

He and his Mom are now trolling antique stores looking for its replacement. It's going to be a good lesson for both the kid and the parent. Money can't solve all problems.

I din't think to take a picture, but here is a re-creation. The ink was thick on the nib, but the worse part was having to swab out all of the in in the cap. On a scale of 1 to James' cat I would rank it a 4. Not a huge mess, but more of an annoyance.

I don't think I have a future as a court artist.
