My disposable experiment

Well I do a fair ammount of travel for work. I try to pack light and can usually go with just one carry on. Up to this point I've never used a disposable razor for my travels, but recently thought I'd give it a try. I picked up the following: Bic Sensitive (single blade), Bic Metal (single blade) and Personna Twin Blade Plus.

I shaved with each razor using my normal prep, and soap/cream. I also used my standard 4 passes (WTG, XTG N-E, XTG E-N, ATG)

I started with the Bic Sensitive. I was very surprised by the performance I got. It had been about 15 years since I've last used a disposable razor. My face was very smooth when I was done. I would rank the shave as probably my 3rd best shave ever. The hardest area of my face to shave is under my neck, always have a little irritation there with a DE. Yet with the Sensitive, I had no irritation. I was easily the most comfortable shave I've ever had. My second and third shaves were just as good, but the razor was failing on the 4th.

Next up was the Bic Metal. Pretty much the same experience as with the sensitive. Although, when I was finished, I thought that shave was slightly better. I'd rank it as #2 is my best shave ever. I can't recall If I used this razor 2 or three times, but it was not as comfortable that last time. I'm going to have to test this again, because I can't belive that it would only give one comfortable shave.

Then I tried the personna twin. Hated it. Lots of irritation and not comfortable at all. I'm going to toss the rest of them.

But very happy with the results I got from Bic!!

I get good results with the Bic Sensitive, but cannot get more than two shaves to my satisfaction, unless I do a thorough rinse and dry. Which only gets me one more. The disappearance of my favorite disposables led me to the Bic, which led me back to DE.

FWIW, I sort of did the same thing in my transition from Mach 3 to DE. With just my inexpensive Conk brush and soap I got fantastic shaves with the Bic single blades. Funny you never see those supported by large advertising campaigns, either.:glare:
