My brush seems to be shedding quite a bit...any tips on how to stop it?

I started shaving with a de razor and a badger hair brush about a week and a half ago. It's been pretty awesome. Lately, though, a lot of hairs have been coming off my brush. It's to the point now where I have to pick the hairs off my razor and face after every pass and it's getting sort of annoying. The brush isn't a super cheapo brush either...it's a Marke Gold-Dachs brush that cost me about $35. Does anybody have any tips on how to stop my brush from losing so much hair?

That sounds like a defective brush. You should contact your retailer, and if that fails contact the manufacturer directly.

Some brushes may lose some hairs to begin with - just a few loose hairs comig out with first uses, then they settle down. You can try giving it a shampoo, and seeing how it goes for a couple of weeks or so, to see if it stops.

If it doesn't, then it's unlikley to, it's a dud and you should contact the vendor to get it replaced.

You got a dud. Pretty soon it will go bald and become unusable. Return it for refund. The same thing happened to my Dovo Vision brush.

Wait, maybe Rogaine will work.

I dunno...the refund/return policy from the place I got the brush from says that they will not take back any used item for hygiene reasons...so I may be up the creek without a paddle here.

If it's shedding that much, it's defective. They can refuse a return based on you changing your mind or not liking the product, but I don't think it's legal to refuse to accept a return of a defective product.

Worst case, you might try writing the manufacturer. They're usually very receptive to resolving customer concerns.

Vendors online and brick and mortar can put up all sorts of signs regarding 'their' policies on exchange and refunds. It doesn't mean they are legal or conform to the appropriate consumer law.

They can't refuse a return on a faulty product for hygiene reasons. They should honour any warranty the product may have, or fault, and deal with their losses via the manufacturer. If they make you do all that, then I'd suggest there are better vendros to deal with in the future.

Some brushes shed more than others. I think a month is a good period to see whether a brush is truly shedding (i.e., hairs coming unglued), or if it's simply extra "stuffing", as some manufacturers use.
