I skipped shaving on sunday and then shave late on monday after two days, which was the first time i had skipped a day since starting to wet shave and I had my first BBS shave. What's odd is that it was WAY closer and had no missed spots AND after 16 hours i could still barely feel any stubble on my face. Why is that? I used the same blade again today and didn't get nearly as good as a shave. I did nothing different on that monday. Now I wish all my shaves were like that.

I've noticed the same a few times. Maybe its that the whiskers stand up more and present a better "target" for the blade.

I wish I could get a shave like that every time, it grew out a good 3 times slower.
Thats funny because yesterday was my first shave after a missed day of shaving since I started wetshaving to. And like always, no matter the method, its always the best shave.
I get better shaves when I skip a day. When I used carts it was really more like 72 hours, but with DE's it's better around 48. It seems like when my whiskers are a little longer, they are softer and shave easier with less irritation. After 24 hours I think they are shorter and tougher. Plenty of guys around here get better shaves when they skip a day or two.
I shave every other day for that reason. I think the blade has more to slice through and skipping a day allows your skin to heal. plus another reason for me is my wife like scruffy look on me.
