My Beautiful Shaving Stand

I was having a hell of a time trying to find a stand for my razor (Feather AC DX) and my brush (H.I.S.). Mostly due to the size of the brush but also straight razor and brush stands aren't all that common. Then an acquaintance of mine offered to make one for me. He just started doing some woodworking about a year or two ago, you can find his work here: http://www.tinpotdesigns.com/ he's based in Australia.

The stand is made out of Bamboo, Meranti and Tasmanian Oak it's also got curls of these woods in the base. It's a great looking piece and he's apparently gotten some inquiries from some online retailers. Who knows you may be seeing some of these pop up for sale!

Thats sweet, are those curls coverd on the base? I'm a lover of the natural look but that also includes big curves and swooping shapes in anything ilike this. I just aint got the skill my self. Thats bl**dy brilliant.

Very nice stand, I thought about making something akin to this myself, but the RAD got me too quick, I had to go larger lol. Great craftsmanship!

You all have too many razors and brushes! I only use the one razor and brush regularly and I don't have much room on my bathroom counter so anything more would have been a waste for me.

Indeed, the wife got that for me just this past Christmas.

This was all custom made, I have no idea if he's actually going to make more or not or if he'd make something to order or how much he'd charge if he did. This works beautifully for my gear but for a general purpose stand I might suggest he lower it by a half to an inch. My brush is very tall, fortunately so is my razor. I have a shavette that I put in just to see how it would fit and while it held it actually dropped just below the top. This makes getting it out a touch annoying and it doesn't look as good. I also have another (traditional) straight, it fit better than the shavette but making it a touch lower wouldn't hurt and would probably make it work for a wider range of razors/brushes.

Again he's in Australia so shipping wouldn't be cheap for most people but it did get from him to me (I live in Canada) in about two weeks, which is about twice as fast as things coming from the US for some reason, stupid customs!
