Look at this beauty I received in the mail today. I thought it would be old worn and a little beat but dang look at that crack in the handle. Definitely not getting good feedback from me on this one.
Contact the seller before you leave the feedback and ask for a refund (subtly using the threat of bad feedback as leverage). Has worked for me in the past even when they said no exchanges or refunds.
Man, that really stinks. To be somewhat fair to the seller, though, that split was actually visible in the first of the auction photos you posted before, although it would have been understandable to miss it considering how poor the photos were. Pretty much any time you see the end fittings of a ball-end handle separate from the tube like that you can assume that there are at least small cracks in it, if not large ones.
The most important lesson learned today is that you get what you pay for. The head is in great shape and I am going to throw it on a Weber handle and give an open comb shave one more try.
I am going to toss the handle to me it is not worth the effort. If you want the handle PM me your address and it is yours to fiddle with same goes for the Khaki case it is in nasty shape maybe you can bring it back to life?
EDIT: I am fresh out of spare Weber handles so it gets a spare 1906 handle. Going to give it a try now wish me luck. The open comb thing and I have never gotten along.
Edit: The shave was pretty good not BBS but passable.
