Musk

Anyone know of any good musk frags, read a review of kiehls on basenotes was going to buy a bottle until I read a guy saying it had a very pronounced rose smell, (can anyone comment on that)have tried el cheapo Jovan musk its ok,has anyone got any good recommendations viz musk TIA

you tried the aqua velva musk? I have a bottle, but it's been too warm to wear it in my opinion. I am excited to wear it when the weather turns colder because it smells great.

Good thread--lots of ideas. When I first started using cologne (late 70s-early 80s), it seemed like everything was musky. Now, I don't think about it much. I do like AV Musk and Pinaud Citrus Musk tho--they're both cheap and quite nice.

Donner I'm from the UK, I dont think the problem of it being too warm to wear will be a sticking point here lol, thanks for replies guys

I used to wear Jovan White Musk all the time. Its hard to find anymore (but available online). Of course, its cheap but IMHO is far superior to the "regular" stuff.

I have worn Kiehl's musk for years now, and although I believe rose is technically listed as one of the notes, I have never smelled rose in this stuff. If it is there, it is far from "very pronounced." Kiehl's musk is some great juice...I get compliments every time I wear it.

I love Musk scents in general. They're not in vogue these days, but then a lot of stuff here at B&B isn't.

Aqua Velva Musk is a nice, inexpensive, classy, and wearable Musk.

I've heard that Kiehls is great and that its one of the best, but I have never tried it.

I used to love Ralph Lauren Chaps Musk, but I haven't seen it in years. If it were still around and available in an aftershave splash I might buy it.

The other Musk often talked about here is Pinaud.

Yeah, i had an old bottle of the ralph lauren musk cologne in my car...then it got hit by an suv and exploded. Damn shame bout the cologne.

Sense no rose in Kiehl's Musk at all. It's a bit harsh from the beginning but after 20 min or so it foils you in nice manly mist which reeks of sex and every 15 min or so some wonderful smell comes around and reminds you that it is actually you who smells nice.

On a whim I picked up some AV Musk at Krogers. It was all of 3 bucks or so. After drydown it smells great, but does anyone else get a noxious fume of alcohol when you first splash it on? It's not bad enough to deter me from using it but I was hoping for a more subdued scent on application. I hope I didn't get a bad batch.

The best all around musk I'm in love with right now is Barbasol Musk AS. Like Aqua Velva musk it cna be used as an aftershave or a cologne.

If you're going to go the Jovan route, check out Jovan Sex Appeal. It's a little easier to find than the Jovan2 which is my favorite Jovan scent.

And the Kiehl's has no rose note. This is why normal people stay away from Basenotes.com.

Kiehls is sort of stuffy. Try Trumper GFT cologne if you can find it. It has a light sweet musk base and it lasts forever.
