Musgo Real Popular in Portugal?

I have asked about 5 Portuguese guys in my neighborhood if they used this stuff when they lived in Portugal, and none of them ever heard of it.

Anyone know if it is something maybe sold in specialty or high end shops there?

I always assumed that it was sold in neighborhood drug stores, etc.

I've heard that it isn't easily had in Portugal. I'm not sure if that means "extremely hard to find," or "not usually sold at the corner market" or some other form of "not easily had." It wouldn't be too strange, though, if their market in Portugal was limited; Gillette makes a lot of product that are difficult to find in the US.

You could equally come to the UK and ask the first 100 people you met if they used Mitchell's Wool Fat shaving soap.

I had difficulty finding a proraso tube in Italy (though cans of proraso were relatively easy to find).
Sadly these are niche products even in their own country...

No. I have never, ever seen a tube for sale. I don't expect finding it in drug stores as it is directed to an higher market segment. I guess it must be available in some pharmacies or high-end perfume/soap stores, but I haven't gone looking for it yet. Too much stuff to try .

I know one or two shops in Lisbon that carry Musgo Real. But not more than that.

funny I recently asked a portugese friend the same thing, he just laughed at how wrong my aussie accent was because he couldn't understand what I was saying ...

I would suspect that much of what we use is fairly niche even in their countries of origin.

In Portugal Musgo isn't available...Living near Porto, it should be said the plant is about 10 miles north from here but it doesn't meant availability.

Recently the factory opened a store here in downtown Porto, Retro/Vintage style it seems...it's a joint-venture between the Lisbon Casa Portuguesa owner and Claus Porto, who have applied some funds or minority partnership.Or better said it was Casa who opened a store having Claus has a minority associate.

At Porto it will available at this store it seems but i don't know the actual prices yet...Once it was the only one here such as Confiança creams but today i think they want to sell it as a Vintage/high end product with high prices but here it can't be done because we still remember the old prices (some cents a tube, widespread at street fairs, groceries, you name it...) I heard several stories about the question but i don't have the time to explain them and too, i don't have how to confirm them or reliable sources.Rumours need confirmation...but the real truth is: it is a rare product.

444 range is widely available in packs of 12, 24, 48 you name it...Alum blocks, rounds or squares stones, several weights of it, the legendary 444 ASB mentholated kick or even the styptic pencils, in blue or red boxes. Just let me know about the quantities...1000 did i hear!? Done!!

Nothing much to add in what regards Musgo Real.

In Italy, Proraso is widely available and dirt cheap.
