Musgo Real or Proraso?

I know this comes up periodically. I am primarily a soap guy, but I was thinking about getting some creams to mix it up a bit. I already own (and greatly enjoy) Speick SC and TOBS Avocado.

I wanted to pick up a good workhorse cream. I am thinking either Musgo or Proraso...I'm leaning towards Musgo. But I can be swayed.

What say you?

I prefer Musgo, but thats mainly because the Proraso is rich in Menthol, which I'm not very keen on. Both perform equally well though (similar to the Speick you already have), so you won't be disappointed on that front.

Of the two, I much prefer Prorasso with the pre-shave. However, TOBS, T&H, or SMN are for a few dollars more, much better than either Proraso or Musgo, in my opinion. TOBS Shave Shop is just terrific.

hard to say - both have served me well. I'd have to give the slight nod to Musgo since I love the scent.

I love Proraso but think that you should buy them both since they can be had for $20 plus shipping.

This is the correct answer.

I'm in the Proraso camp, but I do use Musgo, and really like their AS.

There are other considerations if you have for example, a sensitivity to Lanolin (Musgo) or Menthol/Eucalyptus (Proraso).

If you plan to follow with the accompanying products (recommended in either of the above two cases) you will build a very happy shaving experience.

JM Fraser's is another inexpensive cream that works very well and has a loyal following here. Plus, it just looks like a workhorse cream in that huge white tub. shavingessentials.biz carries this.

I believe Musgo contains Lanolin which is a nice feature and the scent is the most unique shave cream I have ever smelled but well, Proraso, what else can be said about this outstanding cream except Summer is just around the corner :thumbup1:

Mussgo or Prorasso has really turned into a classic question. You live in a climate the same as mine. I find Proraso good in the winter, but not so in the summer at which time it leaves my face feeling a little tacky. Mussgo is good year round.

As already posted here, Proraso is the very best low cost shaving cream available.
Musgo Real is surely good, Proraso is simply much better.
That's my opinion.

I have to vote for Proraso. I agree with Hawkeye also, I prefer proraso in the summer - the menthol seems extra cold in the winter!

They're both top quality and reasonably priced, but:

A. I prefer the smell of Proraso.

B. I can get Proraso locally

C. Musgo burns my face

D. Musgo's scent reminds me of some toilet bowl cleaner or some detergent or something. I don't like it.

I've never tried Musgo because of the lanolin...makes it a no go for me. I do like the Musgo aftershave splash though. Anyway, other "workhorse" creams you might consider are LEA, La Toja, and Erasmic.

Both are fantastic...

Definitely like the Musgo scent better, more pronounced and more pleasant. Although the Proraso has the menthol kick, which on some mornings is wonderul, others not as welcoming. But overall lathers, I give the edge to Musgo, it was slicker for me, and had better skin care. But either way, you cannot go wrong.

Proraso wrecked my face, I just can't tolerate the menthol. If you're not sensitive: it's a great cream. I like Musgo better, but both are no match for Speick. You might also want to consider (European) Palmolive. In terms of value for money it can't be beaten.
