What's new

Musgo Real Glyce Lime Oil different scent?

OK, maybe I'm just nuts... but I could swear that they've changed the scent of MRGLO. I just got in a new puck in yesterday and noticed a slightly different package, this one has no mention of "Lime" and says "Classic Scent". The scent is different to me, more reminiscent of a "typical" glycerin soap. Anyone else notice this?

On a related note, anyone know of any other pre-shave soaps that are similar to MRGLO? Not sure I'm gonna stick with it if this is all that's available.

They recently released five new scents of the glycerin pre-shave soap in addition to the Classic Scent.

Looks like Bullgoose still has the original Glyce Lime in stock below.

Thanks for the reply, Xillion. I'll have to try the Lime Basil or Spiced Citrus to see if its anything like what I had before.

FWIW, when I ordered the most recent puck, the image on the site was of the Lime. Just to let folks know that you may not get the soap you're used to.

I got mine puck from Phil but next time I visit my daughter in Jersey I'll hit Lafco in NYC. That way I can smell them before I buy.

www.lafco.com then hit men's products, third page I believe.

Dredging up an old thread:

I purchased from amazon.com a product described as Musgo Real Glyce Lime Oil soap, paying $10.74 for the cake, passing up other listings for Musco Real Classic Scent Oil Soap for as little as $8.00. Like the OP, I received a soap cake labeled Classic Scent with no mention of lime.

On the label, the ingredients listed are:
Aqua (Water), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Öil, Alcohol, Adeps Suillus, Sucrose, Sodium Hydroxide, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Parfum (Fragrance), Sodium Carbonate, Citronellol, Coumarin, Eugenol, Geraniol.

That differs fron Amazon's on-line listing of ingredients:
Sodium Cocoate (Coconut Oil), Sodium Tallowate, Sucrose, Water, Alcohol, Castor Oil, Calcium Carbonate, Lime Oil, Lime Fragrance.

A little on-line research showed that another Amazon vendor, The Portugal Online Shop, lists different ingredients for a soap of the same description as:
Aqua (Water), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Öil, Alcohol, Adeps Suillus, Sucrose, Sodium Hydroxide, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Parfum (Fragrance), Limonene, Sodium Carbonate. Note the presence of Limonene and the absence of Lime Oil, Lime Fragrance, Citronellol, Coumarin, Eugenol, and Geraniol.

Bull Goose lists the ingredients of Musco Real Lime Oil Soap as:
Aqua/Water, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Alcohol, Adeps Suilus, Sucrose, Sodium Hydroxide, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Parfum (Fragrance), Cinnamyl Alcohol, Citronellol, Coumarin, Eugenol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Geraniol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Limonene, Linalool, Evernia Furfuracea.

In the Bull Goose ingredients listing, we also see novel ingredients Cinnamyal Alcohol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, and Butylphenyl Methyproprional. The inclusion of Evernia Furfuracea in the Bull Goose ingredient listing is strange, as that is oak moss.

I am not sure what all this divergence of listed ingredients for ostensibly a single product signifies.
