Musgo Real a/s

Im looking to get a bottle of this. Can anyone tell me what to expect and what the scent is like? I read some reviews but Im still a little unsure, is it a balm or a milk? Thanks.

It's neither, it's an AS. The scent is quite strong, even cologne-like in it longevity. I get a lot of fancy patchouli. If you like it, you like it a lot.

It's got various moisturising ingredients in it, so go easy on it, it covers a long way with very little, so it can develop a film if overdone. I like to apply ot a damp face to eliminate that possibility, and it''s the only AS I use that doesn't a little balm adding afterwards.

I used some last night, following a SuperLather of MR cream and L'Occ Cade.

The scent is hard to describe. It doesn't smell like MR cream, which is unique in its own right. The MR ASL aroma is quite pleasant, and I'll agree that it is fairly long lasting.

If you use MR cream, the MR ASL is a perfect match to it. When mixed with other aromas, though, its neutral enough that it can go with almost anything, although its definitely for warm-weather use.

If you like your AS to sting, then you'll love MR ASL. I temper mine down a bit by mixing it with Thayer's Witch Hazel.

Last night's application took a long, long time to dry. Granted, I did put on two coats of ASL, but even so, it was still feeling a little sticky at least an hour and a half later.

Balm and milk are not really set-in-stone terms; they're often interchangeable.

If you're looking at the Aftershave Balsam, that is a balm/milk. If it's just Aftershave, it's a splash.

I don't have the splash yet, but the balsam is second only to my PdP when it comes to soothing your face and making it feel great afterward. The scent is subtle and excellent (awful at describing scents, sorry), but it fades quickly. Still, probably my favorite balm overall.

As recommended with the aftershave above, a little of the balsam goes a long way.

Ok thanks, so its more of a splash with a sting, does it have alcohol?

Yes it does, but it also has witch hazel, aloe, and echinacea.

A little goes a long way, but it's great stuff, and even comes with a proper shaker top to control the amount you use.

I'd say get it. :thumbup1:

Musgo Real classic aftershave is great stuff. It does have alcohol in it, but not much, and the rest of the ingredients make it a very smoothing and moisturizing aftershave. Too much will leave your face a little gummy/tacky feeling though. Need to go light on it.

The fragrance is quite strong - I wear it as a cologne sometimes. Smells fresh, green, earthy - patchouli, some lavender (?), some vetiver, some musk. Very classic. Very masculine. I'm not really an aftershave type of guy, but I'll always have some MR on hand.

The Musgo aftershave has a sting from the alcohol but it doesn't burn as much as some other alcohol based splashes I regularly use: Aqua Velva, Skin Bracer, Harris Sandalwood, Royal Lyme, Shulton original Old Spice.

Musgo AS has a nice smell, but the additives turn me off. I'd like it much better if it didn't leave a sticky film on my face.

i have the splash, which is incredibily moisturizing and feels really good on your skin. i wouldnt need the balm. the scent is very nice but not over the top. it mellows out into an even nicer scent. if you apply it to your clothing the scent will last all day. i just put it on my face and neck.

I understand your problem, and I think I have a solution for you. If you're getting a case of "the stickies", that means that you're over-applying your Musgo. Due to all the skin goodies, you don't need nearly as much as other AS's. Just a touch will do you. Some folks even dilute their Musgo by pouring it into an already-wetted hand. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

You guys should have told me how crazy good this stuff is. There is a lot going on in this splash for the skin. Efficacy wise it is top shelf, I dare say above Speick? I applied it after a wicked three pass feather shave. So what ... the burn made me scream like a six year old girl, it faded quickly. :blushing:

KA POW - kinda strong.:w00t: My lady likes it though, so it is a go!

Actually, with all the goodies in there, the alc is quite low compared to Speick (I have both). The death-burn is probably due to the 3 pass Feather!

I agree with some others on here------besides strong smelling, this stuff is STICKY! I "cut" mine in about 1/2 with plain witch hazel and it makes go farther, easier, and less stickily! I figure, it already has some WH in it, it's not going to hurt anything to add some more and it doesn't. Definitely a strong scent----don't wear it if you're going to be in a crowd or audience of some sort. You'll clear the place out, possibly, since you can't expect that EVERYONE will like it. Not my #1, but it's an interesting one to have tried and lends itself well to days where you'll be outside! I'll take Speick or Tabac over it any day.

I do like the Musgo AS, but it is so moisturizing that I have relegated it to winter use (you know, the six weeks or so of actual cold weather that we get each year in Florida).
