Munich and shaving supplies

Hello,

I will be travelling to Munich for a few days. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on products or shops that I could explore.

Thanks

V

Although I live in Bavaria, I've not been able to shop Munich for shaving supplies.
But I'll do a bit of searching. Can you escape an hour or so north to Regensburg? There is a Haslinger shop there. Hard to find but worth the hunt.

Mueller is a large drugstore type place n Germany. they usually have a good selection of soaps, creams and AS but not so many blades or razors.
You can pick up the Wilkinson Starter razor for about $5 which is kinda cool.

I've heard of Munufactum as a high end store but I've no real knowledge of it. Allegedly, they have some nice scents and food.

Flea market "flohmarkt"

In addition to ^ that mentioned above, check out Kamm Weniger in the Viktualienmarkt. Probably the best range of shaving gear in one store in München.

Mueller is great for day-to-day software and Manufactum is worth a visit as well (and try to drop into Dallmayr which is virtually next door).

Thanks for the great information. I will try visiting as many as I could fit within my 3day trip. Best, V

The end of Blumenstrasse nearest Viktualienmarkt has a shop called Pomade. Its small, and mainly for hair care as you might imagine, but they do have some shaving items, and if you are going to be in Viktualienmarket, you might as well pop in since its just a few blocks away.

Just an update to this thread as I'm currently in Munich.

Kamm Weniger is nice, I picked up some Haslinger Schafmilch and they had pucks of other similar-looking soaps, lots of Speick products, Proraso, and TOBS. The shop next door (didn't get the name) sells razors and brushes.

But the real find was Manufactum on Dienerstraße, a couple of minutes' walk from Marienplatz. It sells an eclectic mix of things from coffee grinders to shoes, and has a section entirely devoted to shaving products, lots of local soaps, DR Harris and Musgo, Mühle and Merkur razors, some Dovo shavettes, Mühle porcelain products such as the shaving mug and blade bank, and porcelain and metal scuttles. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town!

If you are able to visit a Müller Drogerie you should be able to find a good range of Speick products at better prices than at Kamm Weniger. When you drop by the Andechser am Dom, have a Wienerschnitzel for me, please.

Ain't that a thing! Dinner tonight was at the Andechser am Dom. But I hadn't read your post, so I had the pork knuckle instead - which was outrageously good.

Sorry to reserect such an old thread, but i found it very helpful this past week. I thought I would take a few minutes to talk update it a bit and consolidate some of the suggestions. I am currently in Munich and hit most of the places mentioned here.

Müller Drogerie is a fun stop for your daily personal hygiene needs. I picked up a nice supply of Tabac stuff.

Manufactum on Dienerstraße had a nice supply of hardware: Mühle and Merkur, for example; plus a couple of high end shavettes. Their software supply was minimal: Proraso and TOBS mainly, and not a wide variety.

Pomade had some Dapper Dan shave soap and a tube of very posh/expensive stuff from the UK. Small selection of straight razors.

I was not able to find the Kamm Weniger near Marienplatz. Google maps kept taking me to a posh eatery.

I noticed that most barbershops had a small supply of software. Usually Proraso. One shop i passed had a nice display of antique Gillette razors in the window.
