I've not owned the R41 but what I've read is that this razor is supposed to be between the milder R89 and the more aggressive R41.

I own the Rocca and the R41. IMO, the Rocca is 90% as efficient as the R41, but shaves 90% smoother than the R41. The R41 is one of my favorite razors, but you must respect it with careful technique. You can cruise through a shave with the smooth-shaving Rocca and get a shave that is very nearly as efficient as the R41 (which I believe is peerless in this respect). Both are terrific in their own way. Glad to own both.
The Rocca at this price is an absolute steal of a deal.
