After shaving with a single blade (Dark Stag folding Kamisori and Parker SRX) for about a year. I decided to give a double edge safety razor a go. After watching loads of vids and reading reviews I had narrowed it down to a few and settled on the R89 Twist. Had my first shave this morning using a new Gillette 7 O'clock Sharp Edge (yellow). I must say I am very very impressed. No nicks, no irritation to speak of (a little in the neck after an against the grain pass) no issues under the nose including against the grain. All in all I would highly recommend this to anyone! Straight away I'm thinking of trying sharper blades like the Timor, Bic & Feather. Fab fab fab!

I do have the standard R89, but I can only confirm the great daily shaves.
Whichever variant that you have, you can't go wrong with an 89.
Agreed, very nice razor. I thought the handles was a little slippery at first. Now I don't notice it at all.

I’ve got the R89 and R41 Grande, and I like them both; completely different tools, but as long as they’re teamed up with a blade that suits, they’re excellent razors.
I have a R89 that I use whenever I don’t use my SR nowadays..I always use it with GSB blades..Super smooth...
