Muhle R41: How many passes?

Hello gentlemen, I have been shaving since last December and recently I got the chance to purchase the Muhle R41 and I have been doing what I have doing with my DE89L, four passes:

WTG, CTG, ATG and finally a cleanup pass...

I wonder if that is too much or some of you gentlemen here also do four passes with aggressive razor? Any lessons from experts here will be much appreciated .

Usually I do WTG then two XTG in opposite directions on my face and a WTG and one XTG on my neck. This gives me a pretty BBS shave on the face and I am satisfied with a DFS on the neck with no irritation.

Short strokes seem to work best for me when using the R41 and the angle is fairly shallow but not parallel to my face but some people report that a steep angle is best.

You havent indicated the frequency of your shaving. I suppose 4 passes with R41 is indeed too much. You might end us destroying your skin in no time, especially if you shave with it daily.

I usually go only WTG and XTG.

It works best for me if I skip a day and do a three-pass shave. I normally do a four pass shave for daily.

I do 4 passes with my 2011 R41. Depends on your face but I find with the R41 regardless of number of passes the prep, selection of blade and software are paramount to irritation free shave.

Two pass shave with R41 is more than enough for me. One XTG and one ATG pass gives me a superb BBS which lasts really long ! Also, I can shave daily with R41 without any irritation or redness of the skin. No sting of aftershave at all !

My growth is probably best described as average. Growth is such that I need to shave daily, yet it's not heavy/dense.
I use R41 exclusively and need only one WTG and one XTG pass, with cleanup. I get BBS from each blade which lasts me 7 days (a fresh one every Saturday) independent of the blade I use. I use almost all of the cheap blades but mostly Shark SS.

This razor for me is exclusive a 2 pass razor: WTG and XTG.

I've only used mine about 10 times so far, but I typically got a really good shave in only 2 passes, WTG, XTG. DFS, bordering on BBS depending on how many days in between. I did find it difficult to shave daily with the R41 the few times I attempted it. After Fatboy February is up, I plan on using the R41 for 30 days to see if I can develop good enough technique with it to manage daily shaves comfortably.

I can shave 4 passes daily with my R41. I've never had any irritation to speak of from the razor. It is aggressive, certainly, but when wielded correctly it's like shaving with anything else. I find it quite user friendly, myself. Do I need to shave 4 passes with the R41? Probably not, but that's what I do with any razor I use and I very rarely have any issues.

I don't consider myself to have especially sensitive skin, for what it's worth. I just take care to use proper angle and pressure with whatever razor I'm using.

Four passes plus cleanup for me with the R41. I shave every other day and the four passes are necessary with any razor. My beard is really tough, course and dense.

If it works for you then you don't have to worry.
I usually do 3 passes with my mule r41.
WTG - XTG - ATG

R41 2011 +Good lather, WTG, XTG, Touchups under the jawline. I don't bother with ATG.
