Mug lathering a shave stick

Does anybody do this? I have a shave stick that I don't use that often because I prefer to create my lather in a mug. Has anybody tried lathering a shave stick in a mug? What technique do you use? I'm thinking of just twirling the brush on top of the stick to get some soap onto the brush and then off to the mug.

Thoughts?

I pressed a stick of arko in a tin. I just later like I do any other soap.

I used to do exactly that with a stick of Palmolive. It worked just fine.

A while back, I squished a Valobra stick, that had softened from daily use, into an Old Spice mug. I used it like any other mug soap. No special technique at all, and I got superb lather.

+1. I love my palmolive stick so I got extras and pressed 2 into the bottom of an Old Spice mug. I much prefer loading the brush in the mug and then face lathering from there. The stick is fine for traveling and for a quick leather and shave but for most days I just like using mug soap.

Yes, I use a cheese grater and press the contents into a mug.
