Mühle R89 vs Weber DLC

Hi Gents

I'm considering a purchase of one of these fine razors, but before putting down the money, I would like owner/user opinions of
each razor. Basically your opinion of one or the other, Even better if you are exceptionally lucky to own/use both. Which is Milder? Which is more Aggressive? What do you like about ____? What do you dislike about___?

I completely understand that YMMV, To me, actual user input seems Valid.

Thank You for Your Inputs

Hi Dave: I love my Weber DLC with bulldog handle. For $70, it's the best bang for your buck when compared to other stainless steel razors. The hefty bulldog handle feels perfect and the knurling is beautiful. The matte black colored DLC (diamond like coating) head glides as I shave both face and dome. The color combo of black and stainless steel looks great, IMO. This is my current go to razor for both face and dome.

I don't own a Muhle 89 so I cannot give you a review on it. Of course, YMMV but for me the Weber DLC rocks all the way.

WARHAWK

Dave, if you would like to try both razors before you decide just PM me and I can send you them to audition.

I own both and I use my Mühle R89/EJ DE89 head daily and for me it has always been a great shaving razor.
My Weber razor with DLC head is nice but it just doesn't work well with my face. For some reason it doesn't glide
well for me no matter what soap or cream I use.

Cheers,

I have both- but my Weber DLC has the classic long handle. My preference is almost nil- but goes to the Weber by a hair. The Weber is just a bit more agressive- and the fact that it is SS is also probably in the back of my mind. Xillion made you a great offer there- but my guess is that eventually you will own both razors! HTH, Frank

WOW...Xillion...Thank you Sir for the offer to test drive them both. I'm at a loss for word right now on your unexpected but generous response.
I shall let you know, and Thank You Again.

fcdiscus...I have a feeling you are right about forecasting my future purchases. I probably will buy both

Well ... fcdiscus was right (I'm gonna get both) ... I just recieved my Mühle R89. Somebody in Germany must have the same type of face as me ... WOW what a razor. :thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1:

As for ordering the Weber...that's on hold cause they're out of stock on the website till mid July ... something to look forward to ...

I tried the EJ DE89/Muhle R89 and it was OK, then I added an Ikon SS Bulldog handle and the added weight made me feel more comfortable, then I bought the Weber ARC with SS Bulldog handle and I haven't used my EJ for a while now.

Sort of explains the progression.

I should have noted that I did get the Grande...Nice weight, and I'm sure in time I will join the progression

To me, actual user input seems Valid.
It's valid if the preferences of the person providing the input align with your own -- much like any other topic. You're still best served by trying both and basing your decision on first hand experience.

I do not have the Weber, but I am very happy with my Muhle razors. I have both the 89 and the new 41.

They may not be stainless steel, but they are beautifully made with some of the finest chroming you will ever find.

It is a very nice and smooth shaver but you need a good sharp blade. I use Feathers with superb results.

As for the handle, it can be swapped out if you want, but I find that aesthetically it works so well with the razor head.

If your hands are dry the grip is very sure.

True and I do plan on getting a Weber ... however they are "Out of Stock" at the moment. Besides if you read the full post ... I did note that YMMV.

A chap from Norway first made me aware about the Weber ARC razor over at the Men's Grooming section at Basenotes. Thus, I recently bought a Weber DLC.

To date, he and I are the only ones who agree that if we put ultra sharp Feather or Astra SP blades into our Webers, we have very mild razors that give a smooth, nick free, razor burn free shave.
My Weber is less aggressive than the Merkur 33C that I also own.
My Weber will not work properly with Trumpers shaving cream, but works very well with less slippery soaps and creams.
Regards,
Renato
