MTA strike (NYC)

i feel absolutely terrible for all those people who are stuck walking up and down manhattan trying to get to work, go shopping, and visit loved ones over the holiday season.

may the weather not get too harsh for everyone and may it all end soon!

The MTA has some cojones. This strike is against the law, and deliberately timed to have the biggest financial impact on the city. Keep in mind the average salary for a bus driver is $63,000 and they are looking for guaranteed raises of 8% each year for the next three years, plus some whopping benefit and retirement increases. I wish I could get those terms, but I would (rightfully) be laughed out of my boss' office.

From what I heard on the news, Bloomberg is trying to get a court to fine EACH striking employee 25k.
