MST Muller waterstone as a finisher?

I've had one for a few years, it's a nice stone and they can be had fairly cheaply. Falls a bit short of a finisher but it's a pleasure to hone on and is fairly versatile. I believe they are from the hunsrueks, sp?, area of Germany, not thuringians. Good feedback, fairly soft and easily gives up a slurry.

Like others said.

I tried two or three of them. They slurry pretty easily and cut at an acceptable rate, but none were what I'd consider a usable finisher. Maybe norton 8k territory? Noticeable step down from stuff like a coticule. I've had a few guys tell me theirs were finisher-level, but there was little to no variance in mine, so I suspect some people just have lower standards for what qualifies as a finisher. They aren't a bad stone, but I really don't see the point in getting one over a synthetic in that range. I'd take a DMT EE (8k) over one any day of the week. I'd probably take a 5k Nani SS or 8k Norton too (doesn't come up because I prefer the EE). Yes these stones all cost a bit more, but you could go for a cheaper stone like a 4k King too.
