So, a couple weeks ago I had to shave for a respirator fit test at work, as mentioned in an earlier thread. Well, in the summer, I usually keep a modified, well groomed beard, but to get to it I grow everything from the jawline up for a couple weeks. I am working out of town now, and don't have my clippers with me to trim the excess down. Anyway, I decided to give the R41 (thanks, Blondie) a run for its (my) money. I loaded it up with a fresh Personna Super (lab, I believe they are commonly called) and lathered with some Bigelow and the old Escali brush. After 2 passes, everything I wanted gone was gone, and with very little effort. The thing is unstoppable, apparently. Just use a bit of caution, stay steady, and take your time. I DO NOT use the R41 when I am in a hurry, but tonight made me love it more.

That is great to hear. I'm hoping to get the same results as you. I was very fortunate to get a great deal on a R41 (thanks John) on BST earlier this week. Matter of fact it arrived today. I will delay my test drive (still need 2 do my research) because of the R41's notorious reputation. Until then, I'm admiring this beautiful chrome beauty.

I know you have been curious about this one for a while, Mel. Just go for it. Don't go Feather sharp, but a good blade, and some patience and caution, will do you right. You can feel it about to shred you if you have the angle wrong, so adjust accordingly. You will love it.
Its amazing to see how much blade exposure the R41 has!!! Great razor!! I stuck an Ikon Bulldog handle on mine for a little weight made it even better
