Most expensive NEW LC?

Sterling silver made for Cartier is most likely the reason and lastly the NOS factor.

He should have given free shipping on that.

Indeed.

I have been watching this item for a while now. It started out with a BIN price that seemed unrealistic to me. If I'm not mistaken, however, the final bid exceeded the BIN price!

Good price for a sterling razor. I once researched and found a silversmith for making sterling handle he said a price like a half amount of this. And the other half goes to the history and the rarity.

What exactly makes that a Cartier? I didn't see anything documenting the authenticity of that razor. The handle seems too nondescript to be Gillette and what would be the point in Cartier making a silver plated handle?

The handle is sterling and the head is silver plated ,my friend if he knows the material.

No idea. The eBay listing said it was made for Cartier and implies that the handle is solid sterling.

There are plenty of other examples of sets similar to this one, made by third parties using Gillette heads. In fact, one very similar to this one just sold on eBay not that long ago:

It's much more common to see them with New Improved heads -- come to think of it, I can't say that I've ever seen one using a NEW head, which would give me some small amount of pause here. I would assume that the handle is at least marked as Sterling, and the case is very likely hallmarked with Cartier's mark, though why the seller wouldn't include a photo of that in the auction is also a little strange.

Nice looking set, Not bad in Todays Market? Also if it was a Gillette Set the head should of been made of Solid Sterling Silver?

Disgusting use of key words in the auction title: double ring, fatboy, fat boy, aristocrat, de, NOS, case
Really?

All that being said, FT had nice taste in selecting a razor, or maybe someone had nice taste in selecting it!
