I was in France not too long ago. I didn't bother taking any soap or cream with me knowing I would find something there (be it French or not).
Landed on a Sunday, went to a small supermarket on a Monday. Selection was small with mostly canned gels and foams. This small plastic jar caught my attention. The "au lait" (with milk) added to my curiosity. Reading through the ingredients, it seemed okay with tallow and milk (don't know how the rest is). Didn't pay attention to the price when I picked it up (assuming it would be cheap) but I remember thinking it would be the equivalent of $5-6 USD. It was actually €1.35 or the equivalent of $1.50 USD.
It's got the consistency of very thick jello or pudding. It smells, in my opinion, good as well - citrus like (lemon). Performance wise, it's impressive. It delivers a thick, dense layer of protection that does not dry on your face one bit. It's not something that will lather the height of Mount Everest (I personally am not after that anyway) and is more of a thick sour cream like texture that you paint on your face. I like the straightforwardness of it - wet brush, load, lather/paint on face and shave. The only drawback is the container, flimsy plastic that does not seal well. I will pick up several more next time I am in France.
I mentioned Arko (which I used couple times) because it reminded me of it: cheap and effective. Scent if sort of in the same galaxy as well.
What are you thoughts?
