Evening!

25th day of May.

Razor: Fatip Lo Storto Slant Closed Comb
Blade: Feather (3)
Soap: Proraso White
Brush: Omega Pro Boar
Aftershave: Aqua Velva Ice Sport
Post: Aveeno moisturizer

Love how this razor looks in gold. Decent performance with the feather today, a few weepers, nothing serious, cold water and alum and not a mark left. I would like to spend some time with this one to see which blades it likes best. Cheers

Notes to these shaves:

First facial shave with the Athena. Both for a special occasion and that occasion occurred yesterday. The blade gave such a great performance yesterday I just had to reward that with another shave. And again it performed marvellous.

I noticed that parts of my face were either in or approaching marble status telling me that when I get the angle right this will be an even more effective razor.

Enjoy your shave.

Very nice. Probably the best shave I've gotten from the CG Level 2. It's blade positive and I did get some irritation around the neck that was expected. For an every other day plus razor this would be great. I wouldn't want this razor for everyday shaving.

I pared it up with the new Karve handle instead of the magnum hammered handle I got with it. The handle is already starting to patina. I'm excited to see how that turns out.

Modern May shave numbers #12 and 13 (rated 9.8 and 9.5 of 10) using:
  • Razor: Rockwell 6S (#3) and Lambda Athena (No. 22-234)
  • Blade: Early 1960s Irish Comet Super Stainless (3 and 4)
  • Brush: Semogue Galahad Horse Hair and Razorock 400 Silver Noir Plissoft synth (both great lather makers and painters)
  • Pre-shave: Noxzema
  • Soap: Cella Almond and Kox Bergamot tallow (from Brother @Guido75) soaps (both very good)
  • Post shave: Thayer's Witch Hazel followed by 1965 Old Spice splash and Stirling Spice balm (excellent)

The Comet blade in the Rockwell 6S with plate #3 proves to be a sublime combination. My shave was super comfortable and very close using two passes WTG/ATG plus careful touchups. I think the #3 plate is the Goldilocks plate for my beard.

The Comet blade in the Athena felt harsher than in the 6S, but it gave a much more efficient and ultimately closer shave in only two passes WTG/ATG withOUT touchups. The extra closeness and slight harshness seems to have generated just a touch of irritation, but nothing serious. The Athena is a fascinating implement.

Sadly, I'm reaching the end of my bottle of 1965 Old Spice aftershave. I really love this stuff. I have another bottle just like it and a number of other bottles of various vintages. I like this vintage version the most though.

Modern May for Friday -

Razor: Parker Variant (2.5)
Blade: Personna USA (3)
Lather: Hempz shave gel
Aftershave: Nivea Sensitive Cool balm

The Variant might be the one of the best values in a "modern" adjustable DE razor. It has a nice "face feel" and gives a comfortable shave. Great shave today 👍

Modern May Friday shave!

Razor: Fatip Piccolo SE open comb
Blade: Vi-John Super Platinum (new)
Soap: ARKO! tub
Brush: Maggard 24mm synthetic w/ marble handle (cheap and excellent)
Post shave: Omega alum block, Thayers Witch Hazel
Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman

It's been a while since using the Fatip Piccolo SE, so in honor of Fatip Friday, it has made an appearance. This razor is particularly special, it was PIDed by @Tom Bowman about a year ago. It was the first PIF I entered and I was overjoyed to win. Thanks, Tom, wherever you are!

This was a three pass shave, some buffing, but no blood, no irritation. The Vi-John Super Platinum blade was sharp and contributed to an awesome shave.

10/10 BBS

Have a great weekend and enjoy your shaves!
