Notes to these shaves:

Spectacular shave! Three passes to BBS or DFS+++. The Blade is still performing and will be on 19 tomorrow.

Had way too much lather after the Omega was done with the soap, but it was slick and smooth just as I like it.

Enjoy your shave.

💯

Consistently great. Love this razor. I also think it's one of the few razors that shaves best with it's original handle. It's a finely tuned instrument.

Blade neutral mildness with efficiency. A great everyday razor.

This morning’s opulent and stupendous shave
RazoRock Hawk V3OC on PAA el Fantasma handle
Schick Proline P-Series (7)
Damp washcloth aka “shave binky”
AP ShaveCo Titanium UHD 28mm synthetic brush 50/100
Pre-shave: slopped wet brush around whiskers
Lather: Wickhams 1912 Club Cola shaving soap, face-lathered
Aftershave: Ulm Nom
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky

Ever stay up too late to safely shave and shower and feel loathing because you were watching cartoons and you’re 50? Well I did and shaved this morning.

Did mostly better with the slack skin technique, but got weepers on my cheeks near the smile lines and ever so slightly scuffed the middle of my upper lip. Will switch to a Feather or Kai soon and see what happens. Hollow, plastic handle amplifies sound of stubble being cut and that’s fun.

You seem to like that RazoRock Hawk. You can't beat it for the price.

Modern May for Saturday -

Razor: Pearl Flexi (2.5)
Blade: Treet classic stainless (1)
Pre-shave: Shave Secret (for neck)
Lather: Cella (red)
Aftershave: Nivea Sensitive Cool balm

Now that my technique is better, I am noticing that different soaps/creams/gels make a more noticeable difference in my shaves. The Shave Secret oil provides a nice extra lubricant for my neck. Cella works really, really well for me: It yields a nice slick and rich lather. The Pearl Flexi might be the best value in modern adjustable razors. Overall an excellent shave today!

The amazing Super Silver blade mellowed as it is on its 15th shave seemed the perfect match for the FOCS, which I had only used once before. My first use of the FOCS scared me a little if I'm honest. Under my nose is the scariest part because the FOCS feels like it exposes more blade at the corners, which is the part of the blade I use to get the whiskers close to my nostrils. This morning, I took extra care and got a very smooth and close shave in two passes WTG/ATG with minor touch ups.

My wife really likes the Old Spice Swagger scent, so I pulled it this morning for our wedding anniversary 👍.

Modern May 2023

Hello friends,

Saturday is the day I care the most about shaving. It's usually when I test new combinations. Today's was amazing: Mike's Orange, Cedarwood & Black Pepper, with Floïd Suave and EDT Terre d'Hermès. Sublime!

I resorted to my usual Saturday razor, Green Cult 2.0 plate IV with my favorite blade, Gillette Nacet (5) and the best-spent $10 of my life: Omega 48 Pro.

Frank was with us, of course.

Rating: 10

Have a nice weekend and great shaves.
