Mixed pair => DFS

I've had success (e.g. Actual BBS) with the classic Tech/Feather combo, so I wondered how an inverse combination might do...
So this morning I loaded a very mild Dorco ST-300 into my rather aggressive Merkur 12C... Excellent pairing as it turns out.
Not BBS, but now about seven hours later it's still in DFS territory. I knew the Dorcos are not very sharp, but they are smooth and very forgiving. But when loaded into something very aggressive one can get surprising results.

Perhaps, you have found the concept of balance between razor aggressiveness and blade. A very good observation, which may be helpful for others. Thanks.

Okay, so shaved again this morning with the same combo. Still an excellent combination, but this time we have a heads-up... Even with a mild blade, an aggressive razor is still aggressive.
No nicks today, only two weepers, but quite a bit of razor burn.
I'll let it rest the next couple of days -- nothing important going on, just work, so I'll wear a tie in place of shaving -- and see how it goes on Wednesday.

I should have figured this out last summer, and maybe I did and have slept since then... But used a really good SuperSpeed all autumn and might've gotten careless...
Aggressive razors require a light touch.

All-in-all, though, IMHO the 12C/Dorco combination still ranks up there with Tech/Feather.

Interesting idea, i did always wonder how my merkur blades would fare in my futur seeing as they're so aggressive, could work out very well.

Yeah, I was mulling that question over in the back of my mind this weekend too...
I actually haven't tried them in my SuperSpeed, but I was considering giving them a run in my Tech, just to see...
