Probably with room to spare. Your best bet is to grate it into its new home, thereby obviating the problem.

Grate it? What, like cheese? This will be my first soap so I'm a bit confused by that!

Yes - exactly. Use a cheese grater in your kitchen if you have one. You can just do it over a plate and then pack it into whatever container you want.

never grated shave soap myself but im sure you could buy a tin for like 5 bucks or so and mitchells would probably fit in it.

The 125g/4.4 oz MWF pucks fit nicely in a TOBS tub, no trimming/grating required.
Great, thanks. I have a few TOBS tubs, I'd better finish one off pronto.

No need, see above!

Postage to the UK would make it more expensive than just buying the soap in the ceramic bowl. However, see above! I have plenty of TOBS tubs which was why I wondered if it would fit.

Tesco do economy square plastic tubs for £1.45 for 3. They are quite small but easily big enough to fit soaps in.

I've grated 3 Palmolive sticks in to one, pushed my Valobra Menthol in to one and store my Nanny's Silly Soap puck in the other which is the same size, more or less, as the MWF puck. Loads of room in them to alllow you to get the brush in and really load them up.

However, for the MWF it's worth paying the extra to get it's own ceramic dish - it's a lovely thing and looks so nice in the bathroom. Yes, it ups the cost but it also makes it feel even more special - which is a good thing.

i put my refills in Ikea tin's, they look better than TOBS tubs.

Two things:
I think MWF will melt so you can heat it in a metal container and have a tight puck. This will work with VDH Glycerin and Deluxe as well. Not all soaps will melt with heat though.

I had some sort of chemical reaction between VDH Deluxe and an an Aluminum container. The soap is still usable, but there are flakes of oxide in the soap. I have not seen this with any other soaps I have in Aluminum containers.

The MWF puck stopped moving after a couple of uses.

i dont think anyone has had any problems with these stainless steel tins and any soaps. my soaps are all fine.

I picked up a packet of the Ikea tins, never been to Ikea before - It took me two minutes to get the tins in my hand (a nice young lady pointed me right at them) and then it took twenty minutes to walk through the store to the checkout! I can't see myself going back there, it wasn't a nice experience especially as I was in a hurry.

For those who consider melting soaps to fit into a dish, the rule of thumb is that veggie soaps are alright with a gentle heat. This means a light flame on a stove top pan or short bursts in microwave. If you use the microwave be prepared for bursts of steam.

Mitchell's Wool Fat is not a candidate for melting because it contains tallow which can separate out of the soap or do funky things as it's heated. Cella, Tabac, Arko, Palmolive are other tallow soaps which should be grated.

If you're not sure if you soap is a tallow soap, be safe and grate. It's easy (and kind of cool too).

As you add your grated soap into it's new container, sprinkle the soap flakes with a few drops of water and tamp down with your ingers, the bottom of a small glass or some other hard surface.

My Palmolive loads up really fast since I grated it compared to using it to face lather. I prefer it that way, actually.

+1 for grating MWF if you don't like the gap between the soap and tin. You just press the flakes into the tin. I also agree that grating it makes for easier loading.
