Hello everyone, I thought it would be a good idea to post a review of the Missouri Meerschaum Freehand and see what experiences others have had with the pipe.
I have always been very intrigued with this pipe, its perhaps the only "freehand" pipe I would purchase. I know there are several out there that are very nice, like Erik Nording, but I really like the way this one looks and feels in the hand.
I recently ordered 2-Missouri Meerschaum Freehand pipes along with an 8oz tin of Hearth & Home Signature Series Larry's Blend and Sutliff Private Stock CD Blend for my twin brother.
The Missouri Meerschaum Freehand is a very nice pipe, it has an effortless draw, that helps to really enjoy the smoking session. It has a very deep funnel shaped bowl that gives you a minimum of an hour smoke. It's very cool and comfortable to hold in the hand and its also light enough to clinch this large pipe without it getting tiring to your jaw. The pipe smokes very cool and dry with a very clean and refreshing deliverance.
I love the fact that this pipe has a vulcanite bit instead of the regular cheap plastic; I don't have to go to Walker Briar Works to get an upgrade.
The pipe has a very wide bowl diameter of more than 0.75" and a very deep bowl of more than 2"
The pipe also has a wooden plug in the bottom of the pipe to prevent premature burn through.
One important note, the pipe is completely unfiltered, so if you prefer a filter pipe, you may have to get it customized.
Overall, I really love the pipe. I am actually considering getting a second one to have for my other English blend; Sutliff Private Stock Blend No. 5, yes the pipe is that good! Next to the Country Gentleman it's my favorite pipe from Missouri Meerschaum.
Has anyone else smoked this pipe?
What are your experiences with it?
What blends do you prefer to smoke in the pipe?
