Missing End Plates

I recently picked up a very nice 1947 Super Speed on Ebay. Except...the end plates are missing! The listing description made no mention of the missing plates but, on looking back, the defect was obvious...my bad. Is there a source for repair parts like this? A repair service? I have a mind picture of hundreds of thousands of these little pieces in drums at the old Gillette factories, and I only need two.

I have replated these before and I think they look great. Will remind you of a Ranger Tech or a 1934 Aristocrat. Just my .02 worth.

You can see the solder(?) residue where the plates were attached. Guess I need to find a donor. $Razor_Gillette_SuperSpeed-1947.jpg

If you have a dremel tool you can use the wire brush bit to polish off that solder residue. Get it good and clean. When you find some donor endcaps you can epoxy them on. Be aware that the endcaps on Super Speeds changed around 1953.... so look for a donor razor from 1952 or newer..... or a no date is you want it to be even more "correct". Man, the rest of the razor looks to be in excellent condition. Congratulations!

Did the '47 Super Speed not have end caps, and the '48 Super Speed had them added (and the notch for loading the blade)??

That's the way I remember it, without researching it. If my recollection is correct, maybe a previous owner tried to retrofit some end caps, and it was less than successful.

46 was when end caps were put on the TTO razors.

I have a 1941 Aristocrat that does not have the end caps
