I am rocking a beard for about a year now (started out as wet shave purchase sabbatical) over all it is nice and full but one side has a patch with less hair also could be somewhat fuller on the cheeks. Anyway I consider Minoxidil aka Rogaine to fix the patchiness and make my beard a bit nicer. Does any one have experience with Minoxidil? Any tips?

Fendrihan posted a blog article about fixing a patchy beard and there's a section on Minoxidil.
They don't recommend it because there are side effects, such as low blood pressure.
Also, a friend of mine uses Minoxidil on his head and lost all of his hair, at first. Apparently, this is another side effect. It eventually grew back, but was completely different from his original hair which was thick and coarse. His hair is now very fine and wispy like a baby's hair.
