Mini meer?

I've been considering getting a mini meer for those occasions when I only have time for about a 10 minute smoke and don't want to do a partial bowl in a regular pipe, but have been put off by the pressed construction of some of the minis I've seen.

I found some at meerschaummarket that are supposed to be made from block.

I've also been considering a small briar...looking at the Savinelli Lolita but the bowl dimensions don't seem to be much less than my 315. The Minuto may be a better choice for what I want.

Has anyone tried the block mini meers, or have any suggestions on a small briar?

I have a mini-meer that I have no idea whether it's block or pressed. It's an OK short smoke, but my wife didn't like it. She always thought it looked like a drug pipe. I've never smoked a mini-pipe outside of the house, so don't know how others may perceive it.

She always thought it looked like a drug pipe.

I've thought about that. I wondered what would happen if I was standing on the sidewalk outside the office smoking a mini meer and a patrol car drove by. :scared:

Looks like a good price and a nice short smoke, are there any other pipes out there in this size range other than the meers? I have been preferring my Mizzou cob because I only smoke every other day or so and prefer a 1/2 hour smoke.

Because of this I would opt for a small briar or cob.

Fridays are Fishtastic!
I use a mini meer at work. THe only comments I have had we're "I didn't know you smoked a pipe". My clay, on the other hand, has gotten funny looks.

Although I like the way cobs smoke, if I'm at my secondary office (I do most of my work at my home office and use an attorney's office to with meet clients or to just get out of the house) I am usually dressed business casual. A cob might look a little, shall we say, "out of place" in that situation.

You could look here for small briars to get some ideas: http://www.adhocpipe.com/Special1/special1.htm

Those are some nice prices, but the bowl dimensions are not very clear. They look like some of the Peterson pocket pipes I've looked at that are just regular sized bowls with a short stem.

I think I'm leaning towards the Minuto straight pot instead of the Minuto curved bent billiard as the dimensions listed for the straight are smaller than for the bent. Although I do like the looks of a bent better, but they don't have it in rusticated.

I wonder how some Peterson's Irish Oak or Dunhill Royal Yacht would smoke in a small pipe. Gonna have to try some flake in one also.

Weellll, I pulled the trigger on the straight stem Minuto. I saw they had a rusticated bent billiard today along with the smooth billiard, but I got the pot style bowl just for the slightly smaller chamber dimensions. It looks like it was the only one they had in stock...if I pull up their Minutos they only have the rusticated and smooth bent billiards left. :001_smile

I hope it works well with regular pipe tobacco...I may have a learning curve to go through.

From what little looking around I have done on the net the Minutos were the only thing I found that were that small.

Except for....

Have you considered the Roley Pocket pipe? http://smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/savinelli/index.cfm?tag=Roley
There is a Wally Frank vintage pocket pipe on the bay for a fraction of the cost, but it looks a little crude compared to these new ones.

Those look a little...different but an excellent idea. Might be a great conversation starter! I don't ever remember seeing one of those when I was a kid in the late '50s or '60s, but dad smoked mostly Winstons and I wasn't around too many pipe smokers that I remember. I do have his no-name five and dime pipe though.
