Millitary Issue Razor?

I finally got to around to cleaning up a recent find from the flea market. I was surprised to see a marking on it that said "Property US Army". Can anyone tell me about it?

The cap and guard are the standard Old Type ball end razor sold during WWI. It might have a J serial number. However the handle is not original, it's from a later day Tech.

For added info, the head is (was?) silver plated, the Tech handle is nickel plated.

When I went through basic in the early 90's I was handed a blue plastic Wilkinson Sword single blade disposable.

I also had access to a small BX that had cartridge razors and canned goo available for purchase.

I can only speak for the Air Force, but they don't issue razors anymore. You bring your own or buy one during your first shoppette run. It's been that way since 2000.

Was that way back in the mid 70's too. You just get a shaved head and a green wardrobe.

It was that way in the 60's as well. 1960 to be exact.
